Leominster, MA – Second Chance Cars is a Massachusetts 501c3 corporation that provides refurbished, affordable cars to hard working veterans, returning citizens, refugees, and others, and in close collaboration with its generous car donors and nonprofit, corporate, and pro bono partners. The cars provided allow their new owners a chance to obtain living-wage jobs and the ability to achieve their full potential.
All One Credit Union is the first financial institution to donate a car to Second Chance Cars. After the car donation, Second Chance Cars worked with the Auto Body/Auto Tech instructors and students at Montachusett Regional Technical High School (Monty Tech) to refurbish it. The car was then awarded to Samantha, a 5-year Navy Veteran and single mother of four who needed it to get to her new job.
“Paying it forward and giving back has always been important to all of us at All One Credit Union and this was a great chance to do that. The car will give Samantha an opportunity that she may not have had without it. We are proud of our partnership with Second Chance Cars and Monty Tech,” stated Danielle Duval, AVP, Collections, All One Credit Union.
Second Chance Cars works closely with 15 social service agencies to help it select “car-ready” candidates and with a network of vocational schools and automotive specialists to help refurbish donated vehicles professionally and affordably.
“We are very excited about the partnership between Monty Tech, All One Credit Union, and Second Chance Cars. It’s a very humbling experience when our students get to experience the direct impact of their work and service to our surrounding communities,” expressed Dayana Carlson, Principal, Monty Tech.
“This has been a fantastic collaboration. I hope other credit unions will follow in the footsteps of the creative and generous team at All One Credit Union and help us get more people like Samantha to work” said Dan Holin, Executive Director, Second Chance Cars
