Posted on June 20, 2014

All One Credit Union honored Aidan a mentee of LUK, Inc.’s Mentoring Program and participant in the “Diversity Through the Lens” project, by displaying his photographic work of art in their main office. All One Credit Union purchased Aidan’s photo at the LUK Mentoring “Kids At Heart” Gala held in February.

Aidan’s family, his mentor, Scott Bennett, LUK, Inc. Chief Executive, Richard Hooks Wayman and staff members of the Mentoring program recently attended festivities held at LCU’s headquarters which included the unveiling of the location where his coin themed photography will be displayed.

“We are proud to display Aidan’s artwork”, commented John O’Brien, LCU President & CEO. “At LCU, we are committed to making a difference in the communities where we work and live, organizations like LUK that provide resources such as the mentoring program are a great benefit to our communities.”

“The celebration is a prime example of the partnership and support that All One Credit Union has provided to LUK and the Mentoring Program for over five years”, commented Hilary Amedy, Mentoring Program Coordinator, “LCU is an integral part of the communities they serve and they exhibit this through their financial education and community based partnerships.”

LUK Mentoring was awarded the $2,000 grant through CHNA 9 to provide the “Diversity Through the Lens” project that Aidan and his mentor took part in along with several others. This project provided the opportunity to access digital technology to express their creativity. The mentees learned new skills and insights about diversity and cross cultural issues through the use of digital photography. A camera and special training were provided by AJ Abrams, a professional photographer from Triscele Photography to photograph their perspective of diversity.

LCU Supports 911 System Updates in Clinton

Posted on April 16, 2014

All One Credit Union recently donated $1,250 to the Clinton Fire Department to update their emergency 911 hardware and software technology.

The Clinton Fire Department had requested a donation to assist them in getting the hardware and software needed to update their 30 year old 911 program. The current system can only register land lines and will not register pertinent information needed when a 911 call is received from a cell phone. The only information currently transmitted to the Fire Department is the cell tower closest to the proximity of the caller.

By updating this equipment, the department will have the capability of utilizing software that can automatically provide the phone number and location of the 911 caller. The new system will also provide the longitude and latitude of the caller, which can then be mapped and presented to the department on the computer screen in map form. This will prevent any confusion as to the caller’s location.

“The enhanced 911 system will allow the Fire department to respond more quickly by instantly being able to identify the location of the caller. Even a few minutes can make a difference in the life and death situations the Fire Department responds to,” said John O’Brien, LCU President and CEO. “LCU is truly happy to help make this critical update a possibility. Part of our Mission is to enrich the communities we serve. This is a great example of that.”
